A "Completed Essay 1" is due at the beginning of class on Friday (4/20). In this case the adjective "Completed" defines itself as follows:
1) Your essay is typewritten/word-processed in a font that includes serifs.
2) Top and bottom margins are 1-inch ; left and right margins are 1.25-inches, and your document is left-justified with a ragged right edge.
3) It is double-spaced, and printed on one side of a page. The other side of the page is left blank.
4) It has a title, which has been placed in the center of the first page.
5) It DOES NOT have a cover-page or a title-page.
6) Your name; the course name and number; my name; and the due date appear in sequence in the top left-hand corner of the page. Each component of this information should appear on its own line and must be separated by a single space. For example:
Your Name
Course Name and Number
Prof. Carrillo
20 April 2007
7) Your pages are numbered, beginning with the second page in either the top right-hand corner of the header, or the center of the footer; your last name should appear on each page to the left of the page number. For example: (Carrillo/2).
8) NO page number should appear on the first page of your document.
9) Completed assignments are ten complete pages long or more of writing that demonstrate some form of beginning, middle and end.
10) Your paper must be stapled and MUST NOT be contained in some sort of binder, folder, or plastic "Hello Kitty" thing.
All request for extensions were honored as of 4/17. If you did not request an extension on or before 4/17, let's NOT embarrass each other.
No later papers will be considered without a request from Dean Bailey.
If you are unable to attend class on Friday, you must make arrangements for me to receive a hard copy of your paper no later than the due date before class.
Before submitting your assignment, you must retrieve the notes that you made for your reading partner. Write your name on the top of your reading partner's paper and hand it in with your essay. You will not dog-ear the two essays to each other, nor should you paper-clip or staple them. I trust that I will be able to identify your editing work and suggestions by your name.
